Andrew Watkins was born in London in 1962, lived for many years in Banbury, North Oxfordshire, came to New Zealand in 2005 and moved to the Island in 2008. He is a software engineer currently managing the Systems Development Team at NIWA (National Water and Atmospheric Research).

Andrew started the OneWaiheke mailing list and website to encourage submissions to the government on the creation of the Auckland Council (supercity) and as a forum to engage local democracy. He also hosts and maintains websites for the storyteller Tanya Batt [1], Artworks Theatre, Waiheke Unesco Biosphere Reserve and the Waiheke CSA

He married Millie Watkins on Palm Beach in Jan 2010.
