Ewen Sutherland

Ewen Sutherland has lived and worked on Waiheke Island since 1997.
Originally from the Wairarapa, he trained in horticulture and landscape technology at Lincoln University. He has been involved in horticultural training on Waiheke, in gardening therapy in London and has been part of the gardening staff at Auckland University and Eden Gardens.
He currently works as a team member at Obsidian Vineyard in Onetangi and writes a regular gardening column for Waiheke Gulf News. Of course, he is a keen gardener and his work has been featured in the Jassy Dean Trust Garden Safari. His other passions include painting, photography and he makes the best pavlova on the island.
He stood unsuccessfully for election to the new Waiheke Local Board in 2010. [1]
