Waiheke Community Board Member
Unsuccessful candidate for Hauraki Gulf councillor in the 2007 local body election.
In 2006 the Wellington High Court slashed fees charged by lawyer Herb Romaniuk, labeling them “grossly excessive” for the” very limited role” he played in a family protection case. Justice Forrest Miller cut Mr Romaniuk’s bill of $19,473.12 to a flat $3,000, saying a reasonable fee in the case “could not exceed $3,000, plus GST but inclusive of the few disbursements incurred.” [1]
In 2010 Herb described the 53% of islanders who voted to close the Esplanade to traffic in a community board survey as 'troglodytes' and said that he would go against the rest of the board in making a submission to the Council Transport committee in order to keep the road open.
