The Waiheke Island Historical Society is dedicated to the collection, recording and preservation of objects, photographs, documents and other material relating to Waiheke's past. The Society's activities include:
- Operation of the Waiheke Island Historic Village and Museum
- Maintenance of archives documenting the island's past
- Publication of books and videos on Waiheke history
- Sponsoring activities designed to raise awareness and appreciation of island history
Membership is open to all at currently $20.00 per annum. Activities and meetings take place at the Museum, 165 Onetangi Road next to the Golf Course; these are publicised on Society's website at http://www.waihekemuseum.org.nz.
