- Sa18Feb 8pm: Tom Rodwell and Storehouse: Auckland’s cult calypso-blues band Storehouse visits Waiheke for the first time on Saturday February 18th, with a concert at the Artworks Community Theatre, celebrating the release of the single “Adam in the Garden”, from their debut album “Live Humble”. Assembled around UK-born singer-guitarist Tom Rodwell, Storehouse present a wildly entertaining and eminently danceable tour through the lesser-known musical alleyways including slave spirituals, Bahamanian calypso, street-preacher rave-ups and gutbucket rent party blues. Storehouse also features the “velveteen vocals” of singer Coco Davis (an expert in the savage world of early female blues and jazz) as well as percussionist extraordinaire Chris O’Connor (a veteran of the SJD and Don McGlashan bands) and guitar innovator Phill Dryson (of Meatbix and Benka Boradovsky Bordello Band notoriety). Tickets available at the Theatre's TimeOut Café (open 9-3 Mo-Sa) with advance purchase at $15 and door sales at $20. @ Artworks Community Theatre

- Fr09Mar 8pm: Emily Smith and Jamie McClennan in Concert: Award-winning Scottish folk singer Emily Smith and New Zealand born multi-instrumentalist Jamie McClennan will be touring New Zealand in February and March 2012. Following a sell-out tour back in 2010 they are back to delight audiences with an inspiring mix of original songs and tunes alongside updated settings of traditional material in English and Scots language. Smith and McClennan have been creating music together for almost a decade. They met in 2002, shortly after Emily won the prestigious title of ‘BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year’. Jamie joined Emily’s band initially on fiddle, but over the years has become an integral part of Smith’s sound, playing fiddle and lead guitar on recordings and live performances as well as producing Emily’s latest solo album ‘Traiveller’s Joy’, the success of which has helped garner her the nominations of ‘Folk Singer of the Year’ & Best Traditional Track’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards to be held in Feb 2012. Performing a beautiful blend of traditional and original folk songs and tunes on vocals, accordion, piano, fiddle and guitar, this is an act not to miss! - Fr23Mar: Urban Tramper in Concert: Lake (vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, keyboard), Phil Jones (bass, Bvs, keyboard/computer) and Andy Hoy (drums/samples) play, write, perform and record music as well as other creative endeavours.... "We have entitled our music 'Future Folk'. Future - because we are in a state of becoming and our music is an aural representation of unrealised dreams; Folk - because we write simple songs for everyone to play and sing along to. Manifesto-in-progress: To try and capture emotions/experiences, that are felt or perceived, and present them in a digestible, aesthetically pleasing format. To stimulate feeling in our listeners; be it that of concurrence with the emotion we attempt to convey, or of reaching a place hitherto not explored. To play, write, perform and record with ardour and respect for our subject, ourselves, our listeners and the artform itself; we acknowledge our responsibility to all. @ Artworks Community Theatre
